About Us
judy cornwell and graham cornwell

We created orangerie to share our passion for the incredible colors and craftsmanship of Morocco. You won't find pieces here that have been replicated for a big box store. It's our favorite stuff from our favorite place. We've lived in Tangier, Rabat, and Fes and traveled extensively throughout the country. We love discovering new styles of textiles and ceramics and bringing them to life in your home.

Why "orangerie"?

We love the color orange. We love watching carts of tiny Moroccan oranges--leaves still attached--hauled into market everyday. Nothing says Morocco quite like picking up a kilo from the souk and ripping into them on the walk home. We also love the funny way darija (Moroccan Arabic) uses neither the French word for orange (oh-rahnj) nor the Arabic (bortukal), but instead uses "limon." Something kind of orange then becomes "limon-y."

The Team

Graham first visited Morocco twenty years ago and was immediately hooked. He earned a PhD in history, writing, researching, and teaching about food and culture in 19th and 20th century Morocco. His Moroccan favorites:

the Grand Sokko, early evening medina strolls, sardine sandwiches, zellij tilework.

Judy is an attorney and a lover of color. She's the eye of orangerie and the inspiration for our palette. Her Moroccan favorites: Majorelle garden, pistachio croissants, couscous Fridays, rooftop breakfasts, bowls, and more bowls.
